Treatment of Children in an Acupuncture setting: A Survey of Clinical Observations

This article examines the use of acupuncture, massage and herbal medicine for treating children, specifically highlighting diagnostic and treatment strategies that differ from those employed when treating adults. The case studies selected both demonstrate the relevance and necessity of remaining flexible when working with children, and highlight methods for assessing the progression of the treatment. Information is presented on a range of issues requiring special consideration in paediatric cases, such as the office setting, diagnostic assessment, treatment structure, needling techniques, herbal strategies and dosages for children, as well as ways to involve parents and caregivers in the healing process.
