The Basics of Western Medicine for Acupuncturists: Understanding In

As Acupuncturists' services are more and more frequently being integrated into mainstream medical treatment facilities, many practitioners have a serious need to understand more Western medical terminology, physical examination procedures, and diagnostic parameters. This course is one of four programs in Blue Poppy's Basics of Western Medicine for Acupuncturists Series. Courses included in this series are: Neurology for the TCM Practitioner, Infectious Diseases, Musculoskeletal Diseases and Women's Health: Obstetrics, Gynecology, Breast Disease and Infertility. These courses are designed to teach acupuncture practitioners the basics of Western medicine and "medispeak" for each of these specialties.

Antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal therapy
Eye, ear, nose and throat infections and influenza

Cardiovascular infections
Nervous system infections
Infections of the GI tract, liver, pancreas, biliary tract
Urinary tract infections and sexually transmitted diseases Bone and joint infections HIV and AIDS
Other infections: parasites, zoonitic infections, bioterrorism
Blood diseases: anemias
Blood diseases: white blood cell disorders, leulemias, myeloproliferative disorders, hemophilias
