The Basics of Western Medicine for Acupuncturists: Bundle (5 Courses)

As Acupuncturists' services are more and more frequently being integrated into mainstream medical treatment facilities, many practitioners have a serious need to understand more Western medical terminology, physical examination procedures, and diagnostic parameters. The courses in Blue Poppy's Basics of Western Medicine for Acupuncturists Series are designed to teach acupuncture practitioners the basics of Western medicine and "medispeak" for the included specialties. Musculoskeletal Diseases (15 CEUs)

This course covers: Nerve compression syndromes, Deformities and disorders of the hand, Foot problems and podiatric surgery, Workmen's compensation injuries, Musculoskeletal tumors, Amputations and care of the amputee, Rehabilitation of stroke and spinal injury patients, Arthroscopy, sports medicine, and joint replacement surgery, Physics and physiology: the bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, & skeletal muscles, Arthritis, Bone Infections, Vasculitis Syndromes, Disorders of the lumbar spine, Disorders of the cervical spine

Neurology for the TCM Practitioner (15 CEUs)

This course covers: The anatomy and physiology of the brain and nervous system, The neurological exam: mental status, Cranial nerve exam Motor exam, DTR's sensory, and gait, Neurological symptoms, When to refer the patient, Diagnositc tests, Headaches, Cerebrovascular Disease and strokes, Dizziness and vertigo, Parkinson's disease, Demential states, Neuromuscular disorders, Multiple Sclerosis and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Neurological complications of alcohol abuse, Behavorial neurology, Sleep disorders, Seizures, epilepsy

Women's Health - Obstetrics, Gynecology, Breast Disease, and Infertility (15 CEUs)

This course covers: Physiology of the breast and lactation, Nipple discharge and mastitis, Fibrocystic disease and fibroadenomas, Breast cancer, Anatomy and physiology of the female tract, Female sexual problems, PMS and dysmenorrhea, Abnormal bleeding, Infections of the vulva and vagina, Sexually transmitted diseases, Diseases of the uterus: adenomyosis, fibroids, endometriosis, prolapse, Cancer of the female reproductive system, Pre-menopause and menopause, Contraception Infertility and fertility enhancement, Pregnancy

Hepatitis A, B, C, D, & E (3 CEUs)

This course will cover the five types of infectious hepatitis, how they are contracted, how long they last, how we can treat them, and what the potential long-term consequences of having one of these infections means.
